First Look: Unveiling the Haunting New Key Art for The Backrooms: Lost Tape
We are thrilled to give our community a first look at the brand-new key art for The Backrooms: Lost Tape!
The liminal, unsettling world of the Backrooms is expanding, and this latest visual gives a direct nod to the psychological horror waiting for players beneath the surface.

Behind the Art: From the Box Office to the Unknown
At first glance, the towering, chaotic pile of worn-leather seating looks completely out of place amidst the endless, buzzing fluorescent yellow hallways. But there is a chilling reason for this surreal monument.
In The Backrooms: Lost Tape, you don’t just stumble into this nightmare by accident. The game follows the story of a cinema usher who, while working an ordinary shift at a movie theatre, noclipped right through reality and fell into the Backrooms.
If you’ve seen the movie, you’ll instantly recognise the terrifying nod here: much like the film’s uncanny Furniture Pile Room where everyday objects are dumped and stacked into towering, glitched heaps, our protagonist is met with a monument constructed from their own reality. Those chairs aren’t just random debris – they are cinema chairs, twisted remnants of the usher’s normal life, dragged into the abyss alongside them. It serves as a haunting reminder of where they came from… and how far away from safety they truly are.
What to Expect in The Backrooms: Lost Tape
- True Found-Footage Realism: Experience heart-pounding psychological horror captured through the gritty, distorted lens of a lost VHS tape.
- Survive the Liminal Void: Navigate endlessly looping hallways, empty spaces, and familiar environments twisted into an unrecognizable labyrinth.
- Evade the Entities: You are not alone. Manage your stamina, stay out of the shadows, and run when the humming of the lights is drowned out by something closer.
