It’s news worth shouting about, but it’s best to keep quiet in Trenches VR. “The game that can hear you breathe” has been released from enemy territory and is now available on PCVR, Meta Quest. PlayStation VR2 version has been delayed for a short time and will arrive in the near future
Tomorrow marks the much-anticipated launch of the Steelkrill Studio’s sound sensitive psychological VR horror, Trenches VR.
Published by Perp Games for PCVR and Meta Quest the gruelling title is now ready to slip into the hands of willing soldiers. PlayStation VR 2 players will have to wait a little longer, with the game arriving on the platform in the near future.

Playing as WW1 solider, James R, you’ll be dropped into an inescapable nightmare where your sanity will be questioned for every corner turned in the claustrophobic trenches. In a desperate bid to escape the horrors of war and return safely to your family, you’ll have to navigate the muddy maze, evade and outsmart a relentless, horrific monster, and collect clues to find your way home.
A sound strategy
Available on Meta Quest and Steam VR, the nightmarish enemy that stalks you can also hear every fearful breath and board-trodden footstep. It’ll use every trick in the book to keep you from escaping, including mimicry, to lure you down its path.
Sound can also play a crucial role in evasion and lead you to vital clues. Utilise noisy diversion tactics to throw the monster off your scent or blow your handy trench whistle – at your own your risk – to hunt down vital clues. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!
Down a dark path on the double
The lines between delusion and reality can quickly blur as the environment shifts with your sanity. What may look like well-trodden path can never be trusted. With threats lurking around every corner, ensure you map out narrow trench passageways and the space under your sleeping quarters to bypass or hide from the enemy. You’ve only got one save, soldier, so plan strategically and keep moving.
